Things to check when buying a laptop

i could still remember the first time i bought a laptop from computer village in nigeria,i was a newbie i didnt know what to check or what to look at when buying the laptop,i just needed a laptop, because of my lack of research they gave me a laptop which was really old but it has been repackaged and i paid 120k for the laptop.it was hanging, very slow, and very hot after some months the motherboard burnt, before i could realize i have been duped.so am writing this article to prevent a lot of people form making the same mistake.to buy a laptop expecially in nigeria or any part of the world, here are some things to check.

1.Decide what operating system you need

most laptops out there come with three O.S :windows, mac O.S(for apple macbooks only) and chrome O.S(not really common).lets check them out.

    WINDOWS

windows has been existing for sometimes ,to me they are the most flexible and likewise the cheapest O.S out there.their latest version is the Windows 10 O.S,which provided improvement for their windows 7,8,8.1.the windows 10 is microsoft latest O.S it is fast, easy to understand ,stylish and flexible.

    MAC O.S

All apples laptop or pc comes with the latest version of mac O.S.the operating system is similar to that of windows 10 but has a complete interface.for widows the apps and software are located at the left handside of the screen, while the startup button is located below the screen.but for mac O.S all the apps and programs are located below.mac O.S is a good O.S,i recommend it.

    2.choose the right screen size

the screen of a laptop also matters when buying a laptop.you need to check the display size of the laptop.i.e the screen.
*11-13 inches:it is really small and thin, that means the display size will be small and annoying.not recommended.
*13-14 inches:it is really good ,it is really portable and has a good display size.
*15 inches:this is the most popular screen size .it has a larger screen,a good resolutionand display size.i recommend it.

    3.check the keyboard and touchpad.

A laptop without a good keyboard is useless, then what is the usefullness of the laptop if you cant type and use it.if you plan to buy a laptop make sure it responds quickly, when you type E,or any alphabet on the keyboard, make sure it gives you are fast feedback not a slow one.there should be enough space within the keys usually (1-2.5mm).also check the mouse if the mouse does not respond fast or the cursor is jumpy, please dont buy the laptop.

4.look for your species or component

components such as cpu, intel, ram, hard disk are the main key in buying a laptop or pc.

*CPU:it coordinates the activities of the computer.it is also known as the brain of the computer.if you need a good laptop you CPU must be good ,here are the list of model you should check.

*intel  core i7:it has a very good and high performance ecpecially for games ,production and high performance activities.there are also series of core i7 ,like core i7 y series(it has lower power and performance .).when buying a laptop keep your eye on CPUs that has i7 as the core ,it is part of the latest core series and very good in performance.

*intel core i5:it is a also good in performance ,it is mostly found in mainstream laptops.it has a good performance also cheap in price.so when buying a laptop get an intel that ends with i5 dont go for the one with a y in its name(they have low performance).

*intel core i3:almost like i5 but its performance is below i5.

*intel atom:they provide good performance and good battery life.

*intel prentium/celeron:they provide good performance but bad  battery life, intel atom is better than them also the intel i5 and i3.not recommended

*intel xeon:it is so expensive ,and has a super performance ,it is mostly used for 3D modelling, video editing and other production basics .but bad battery life.

*RAM:some laptops comes with 2gb ram (not recommended )2gb ram hangs a lot ,it has low performance so go for a 4gb,8gb or 16gb ram, more will be suicide just limit your self for 8gb ram or 6gb ram because of the cost.

*hard disk(storage):the speed of your cpu also depends on the gb on the storage .so go for 500gb,700gb or 1t storage space.

    5.Display:

the more pixels and resolution you have the more sharper and smarter your laptop will look.most mainstream laptop have about 1367*768 displays.there are some other displays such as 1920*1080,2500*1600,3200*1800,3840*2160.i dont recommend 1367*768 ,but if you can go for 1920*1080 i recommend it or 2500*1600,3200*1800,3840*2160 they are good but consume your battery life.

    6.Battery life:

if you are buying a pc or computer you dont need a battery or worry about battery life, but if you are buying a laptop you need to worry about battery life.your laptop will be bad without a good battery life.

    HOW TO CHECK YOUR BATTERY

common laptops out there makes use of LI-ION,NIMH,NI-CAD.but most laptops make use of LI-ION batteries.normally when you remove your battery you will see the model numbers, rating (mostly 10.8v ,4050mAH for LI-ION batteries) and a charging current of 2.4A.you can also check the manufacturers site about the battery information,i recommend the LI-ION battery, although it is expensive but has a good battery life and performance.
